Terms of use
1. Purpose. Wesh is a free proximity messaging app published by Samouraï Coop, SARL SCOP (French worker cooperative), 149 avenue du Maine, 75014 Paris, France. By using it, you accept these terms.
2. Age. You must be 16 or older.
3. Zero tolerance. The following are forbidden, in the local room and in private:
- illegal content;
- harassment, threats, and incitement to violence or hatred;
- sexual content involving minors;
- sharing other people's personal data without their consent;
- impersonation;
- spam.
Abusive users have no place on Wesh.
4. Illegal use. Do not use Wesh to commit or prepare an offence. You alone are responsible for your messages and how you use the app, in line with the laws of your country.
5. Block and report.
- Block cuts off all content from a person on your phone.
- Report hides content on your phone and lets you send it to us at support@samourai.coop.
- We handle reports as quickly as we can. Where the law provides, we may pass clearly illegal content to the competent authorities.
6. Decentralised network.
- Wesh has no central server: messages travel from phone to phone and, in Internet mode, through third-party relays.
- Samouraï Coop cannot read private messages, delete a message on other phones, or remove a user from the network.
- Moderation relies on local block and report tools.
- The local room is shared with users of BitChat, a third-party app we do not control.
7. Public messages. What you write in the local room is public. Others may keep and relay it.
8. No warranty.
- Wesh is provided "as is".
- Message delivery, Bluetooth range and background operation are not guaranteed.
- Do not rely on Wesh in a life-threatening emergency: call 112 or your local emergency number.
- To the extent permitted by law, Samouraï Coop is not liable for damage arising from use of the app or from content exchanged by users.
9. Open source. Wesh's code is public: Unlicense for iOS, GNU GPL v3 for Android. Those licences govern the code. These terms govern use of the app distributed by Samouraï Coop.
10. Changes. We may change these terms. The current version is posted on this page with its date.
11. Governing law. French law. Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory rules of their country of residence.
